This is where stillness becomes an edge. Stillness is not about doing nothing. It is in refusing to react when reaction is not required. It is the ability to pause when everything around us is telling us to act. To sit with uncertainty without rushing to resolve it. To allow decisions to play out instead of constantly interfering with them.

Thirty-two years ago, while undergoing military training, I was introduced to a concept called the Principles of War. At that stage, it felt like just another subject—structured, formal, and distant from anything real. Terms like concentration of force, economy of effort, and surprise sounded important, but only in theory. As a trainee, you learn them because you are supposed to. You don’t yet understand where they truly matter. The real understanding, however, came much later.

Because in markets, what is said is often true. But rarely is it the whole truth. And that is where investing actually begins—not in what is told, but in what is left unsaid.
